New SENNEBOGEN PLANT 2 - Time for Innovation

Now the time has come – the new SENNEBOGEN plant 2 is in operation and is the new work site of around 350 employees from Production, Development, Engineering and Administration. The invested sum totals app. 30 million euros.

Due to the increasing worldwide demand for large-scale handling and lifting devices this new site is an important strategic step and another milestone in the 55-year old company history of the Straubing-based family business. "In the future we will be able to react even faster and more flexibly to our customers' and partners' wishes and requirements", says Erich Sennebogen. Optimized processes from goods delivered to the dispatch of machines allow for increased planning reliability and shorter turnaround and delivery times. The tri-modal connection of plant 2 has all logistic prerequisites for the worldwide transportation of machines via road, rail or water.

A total area of 125,000 m2 (app. 1,345,489 ft2) with generous free space and an 15,000 m² (app. 161,459 ft²) assembly hall provide excellent conditions for the production, erection and testing of the machines with a operating weight of up to 300 tons. Thanks to the foresighted planning future extensions of up to 200,000 m² (app. 2,152,782 ft²) are possible.

State-of-the-art communication, office and social rooms for staff and guests on 5,000 m² (app. 53,819 ft²) ensure an attractive work environment. "We provide the communicative basis for excellent team performance by means of short ways and optimized processes across the departments and thus bring our experts even closer together", the managing director describes the newly structured work environment. The new plant 2 represents state-of-the-art working conditions embedded in an attractive landscape.

SENNEBOGEN's clear decision for the location to be in Germany / Bavaria was a strategic one in order to develop and produce innovative, top-quality products using experienced and highly qualified personnel in the future as well. This choice of the location also allows for using synergies with the other locations in Bavaria and further strengthening the network with our important partners.

Plant 1 at Hebbelstraße in Straubing remains the group's main office with central administration areas. The production of Sennebogen carrier devices, the service center for the worldwide spare part distribution, and customer support also remain at Hebbelstraße. Steel construction business, especially for large welded constructions, will be extended. Furthermore, extensive building measures and investments have been planned for plant 1.  The spare parts depot will be extended to twice of its current size in order to guarantee our excellent spare parts availability in the future as well. Plant 1 will remain an important location in the company group.

The original company that Erich Sennebogen Sen. established in 1952 has developed from a manufacturer of agricultural machines to a global player in the areas of material handling, crane technology and special machinery. Up until today SENNEBOGEN has produced over 30,000 machines for worldwide use. The products are sold and supported by our own distribution companies or distribution partner on all continents.

With the completion of plant 2 Sennebogen now has 4 production plants, three of which are in Germany and one in Hungary. A total of around 1,000 dedicated and motivated staff members are responsible for a turnover of app. 360 million euros.
