The technique of dynamic soil compaction increases the storage density of soils. It is mostly used for backfills, construction and demolition waste, and for a geological soil structure with large voids. It involves repeatedly dropping a heavy drop weight - for example, a drop plate - from a great height. The kinetic energy generated by the pressure of the impact penetrates the soil layers and compacts them. Other compaction methods include vibro-compaction and vibro-pressure compaction.
SENNEBOGEN duty cycle cranes are particularly suitable for soil compaction measures because they are heavy-duty and have very high stability due to very wide crawler tracks. The lifting and falling of the drop weight is electronically controlled by the free-fall automatic system, so that the braking of the winches is automatically controlled, slack rope is avoided and the load on all components is reduced.
