New battery-powered material handlers in the G-series: 824 and 826 Electro Battery

At bauma 2025, SENNEBOGEN will be presenting two recycling material handlers from the new G-series with battery drive for the first time: the 824 Electro Battery and the 826 Electro Battery. In addition to all the advantages offered by the 6th machine generation from SENNEBOGEN, these two powerful battery-powered machines are characterized above all by the fact that the battery capacity can be flexibly configured - so that the customer can choose the most economical solution for him and is also well equipped for the future.

Around 3 years ago, SENNEBOGEN successfully launched the first electric material handlers with battery technology on the market, which are characterized by high efficiency, emission-free operation and maximum flexibility. These machines are labeled with the name suffix Electro Battery. With the introduction of the two new battery-powered machines in the G-series at bauma, the manufacturer is expanding its portfolio of battery-powered material handling machines and once again underlining its claim to develop innovative and future-oriented solutions for material handling.

Battery-powered machines operate completely free of CO2 emissions

The battery-powered 26 t SENNEBOGEN 826 G Electro Battery recycling machine with 13 m reach also saves more than 60 t of CO2 per year and will be launched at bauma 2025.

As the 6th machine generation, the SENNEBOGEN G-series is characterized by outstanding performance and maximum efficiency in operation. The two battery-powered electric material handlers 824 G Electro Battery and 826 G Electro Battery also impress with their powerful combination of high load capacities and long reaches of 12 and 13 meters respectively. High system performance and optimized hydraulics ensure maximum efficiency, while the excellent response characteristics enable fast and sensitive work processes. The intelligent, latest-generation SENcon control system installed in the machine enables intuitive and customized operation for the driver or the application, as well as cost-saving remote maintenance options. Equipped with a battery-powered electric drive, the machines operate completely free of CO2 emissions and each save over 60 tons of CO2 per year. Not only are people and the environment noticeably relieved, but operating costs are also reduced, as the service requirements for the Electro Battery models are very low and no fossil fuels such as diesel or engine oils need to be added.

Modular battery concept: 1 to 4 battery packs

The special feature of the new battery-powered material handlers from SENNEBOGEN: not only do the battery-powered models hardly differ visually from their cable or diesel-powered counterparts, but thanks to the modular battery concept, the machines can also be flexibly adapted to different application requirements in terms of performance. Both machines are equipped with a 90 kW electric motor. Depending on requirements, 1, 2, 3 or 4 powerful lithium-ion battery packs can be configured and retrofitted. This gives customers maximum flexibility and future-proofing, as they can initially choose the most economical solution for them and increase the battery capacity later if required. Each battery pack delivers approx. 98 kWh, which means that when equipped with 4 battery packs, each can be used for 6 to 7 hours without recharging. The machines are charged quickly and efficiently via two to three onboard chargers on the undercarriage, each with 22 kW charging power, so that either 44 or 66 kW total charging power per hour is possible.

Self-sufficient working: in battery mode and also wired to the mains

Battery-powered material handlers from SENNEBOGEN are characterized above all by the fact that they are designed to be particularly application-oriented and practical. This includes, above all, the Dual Power Management System. This allows the machine to work autonomously in battery mode as well as connected to the mains. In battery mode, the machine is supplied with energy exclusively from the battery pack and is highly mobile.  If it is connected to the mains via the charging point on the undercarriage for charging, work can continue in stationary mode, as the uppercarriage can be swiveled through 360°. Excess power fed in during the charging process simultaneously recharges the batteries. Another advantage is that the existing infrastructure of the recycling company can be used, as the machine is charged via a commercially available, standardized 63 A or 125 A CEE plug. There is no need for additional investment in charging stations.

Long-life batteries and safe for the operator

The certified high-voltage battery systems of the two battery machines impress with a long service life of over 4,000 full charge cycles. This is achieved, among other things, by the ideal temperature control of the battery cells in the system. Thanks to the integrated battery storage, load peaks are also smoothed out (peak shaving), which reduces the grid connection power and saves electricity costs. The fact that no manual intervention in the system is necessary is particularly safe for the operator. Dual Power Management automatically detects the energy source - battery or mains power - and switches to the appropriate operating mode. As part of regular diagnostics, the machine also independently detects faults and interventions in the high-voltage system and switches off in a controlled manner if necessary.

On show at bauma 2025 in Munich

As an example of the two new battery-powered excavators in the G-series, the 824 G Electro Battery will be one of a total of 8 machine innovations on display at the SENNEBOGEN stand at bauma: from April 7-13, 2025 at outdoor area FM.712, Munich Trade Fair.
