SENNEBOGEN 825 A Material Handling Machine flexible on rails
Since the end of last year, a rail-car mounted SENNEBOGEN 825 A at Ferro AG in Baden / Switzerland has been responsible for material handling.
The Ferro AG recycling operation was started in 1936 by Alfred Sax in Baden. In 1978, Mrs. Verena Zeier overtook operation and continued improving the track record of the company. Ferro AG was already able to put up a new company building in the same location in 1991. Another subsidiary is located in Birr (AG). Mrs. Zeier manages the company still and now has 9 employees.
Industrial waste, scrap and metal is sorted and shredded at Ferro AG in the electrical material handling hall. Material fatigue and technical problems on the old crane made a new investment imperative. An innovative and environmentally friendly solution was important to Ferro. FERRO AG was made aware of the Kuhn Schweiz AG and SENNEBOGEN team with good references on the market. The 825 from the new D series of SENNEBOGEN convinced the management right off the bat.
The 825 is the heart of the plant and is responsible for unloading trucks, sorting and for feeding a Taurus scrap cutter. The machine is mounted on a rail-car undercarriage, which makes it possible to feed the scrap cutters on one side and to sort scrap and metal on the other. With a reach of 14.5 m and an Orange peel grab, the SENNEBOGEN 825 covers the entire hall area. Approximately 120 t per day can be moved quickly and efficiently with the fast working speeds and the heavy load capacity of the machine. The specially developed working equipment enables all work above and below the machine level. Crane work with track and cutter assemblies is also no problem. The powerful 90 kW electric motor is the optimal choice for working inside the hall. It is low-noise, economical, environmentally friendly and greatly extends the life-span of the hydraulic components. Power is supplied safely on power rails on the hall ceiling at Ferro. These innovative solutions by SENNEBOGEN and KUHN Schweiz AG totally rule out any possibility of damages to current conducting components. All maintenance points are ideally accessible with the longitudinal motor installation and the service-friendly overal concept of the machine, which reduces operating costs to a minimum.
Because of the positive experiences, which were made possible over the previous months by FERRO AG with the SENNEBOGEN 825 D series and Kuhn Schweiz AG, Mrs. Zeier has decided to bring in another 825 D series for the Birr (AG) location. This mobile SENNEBOGEN 825 with a K 12 outfit will be delivered in the summer of 2008 and will contribute to the further success of FERRO AG.
